That’s upper Queen St. The poor souls who live here without needing a lawn mower much have done this as a plea to be saved and moved to the burbs.
Ha ha! Conan you must be joking! Appropriately and romantically enough this heart is the work of the artist/actor, Ian Hughes, who used to live here – in defiance of the burbs! As the story has been told to me, a work assignment took Mr Hughes out if town on Valentine’s Day. Being exceptionally well organised and considerate, he painted this heart before he left and arranged for his partner to be flown over the house on Valentine’s Day. I now live here, my partner has a cold and is unmoved by Valentine’s days but the heart remains.
Yes Anna I was. I do recall Ian living there and his fascination with his nail gun… Nice story.
“The Auckland townhouse of Ian Hughes and Cass Avery is filled with the memorabilia of their 13-year relationship …. On one birthday, says Avery, Hughes was away, but he arranged for a friend to take her flying over Auckland.” From: http://www.listener.co.nz/commentary/taking-heart/
