I caught only a few trains right at the beginning of March, on the western line, and they were full if not totally over-crowded. The bus route that I take is also not one of the busiest - so no huge overcrowding there. But I have heard that people are finding both buses and trains busier than ever, which makes sense with these figures.

I think perhaps off-peak travel has been increasing quite dramatically too. There has been huge uptake of SuperGold card rides by pensioners - which obviously helps the off-peak numbers significantly.

Wow, that is huge. How crowded are those buses and trains right now? I remember the last time I was in Auckland, a few years ago, supply hadn't caught up with demand on the rails, and it felt a little cramped.
